This is a quiet page. The purpose of this was basically to just take a moment for a breather and allow the reader a moment to dwell on the tragic events of the previous page before pressing on with the narrative. As such, we get a final clash between past and present, perhaps the starkest contrast yet to underline what has been lost to time. Big kudos to Ray Dillon for selling that divergence of tone with his colors. The present-day sequence of the top half is dark, bleak, while the closing panel of our story from the heyday of the past is glistening with brightness, like a beacon of hope fading with time. It may be a quiet page, but it’s one of my favourites of this issue.
Be sure to come back next week, where we’ll be presenting you with the final page of Chapter 1, then launching right into Chapter 2!
