THE STANDARD #4 is very much the beginning of our story’s second half, and that was reflected by a big gap between issues.  This was also the first issue to be released after THE STANDARD had entered the worldwide distribution stage through ComixTribe.  THE STANDARD made its debut in January 2013, with the plan to release on a bi-monthly schedule, and at the time we had a three-issue lead.  But due to production delays, we’d eaten through that lead time  as issue #4 was in the works, and so when this issue was finally released late in 2013, having already slipped off our bi-monthly schedule, we were left with a daunting position of now having to start on issue #5 with no lead-time.  More on that later.

We were, however, able to put together a special advance preview edition of THE STANDARD #4 in time for the 2013 Glasgow Comic Con, complete with a convention-exclusive cover from Iain Laurie, who of course I’ve gone on to release AND THEN EMILY WAS GONE with.
