The Standard

That’s right, folks: we didn’t just make our decapitation quota in this issue, we DOUBLED it!

When I wrote this, I think the intention was to straddle the fine line between horrifying and hilarious, hence the sound-effects, and Jon pulled off that vibe brilliantly with his artwork here.  I also love how Jon continues to enhance that aspect of Gilbert Graham wearing his heart on his sleeve with Gilbert’s reaction here.  There’s no stoic, heroic response from The Standard, but rather he reacts how I imagine most of us would to seeing a man’s head slide off his shoulders and plop onto his lap: he loses his shit.

Also, here’s another case of Jon Rector drawing a character with less clothes than he had in the script.  Look at dem man-boobies!
