The Standard

In this war of words between The Standard and Piper, I wanted to hammer home the idea that the world has moved on from The Standard’s heyday, that it’s a darker, nastier place, and suggest that perhaps The Standard is ill-equipped to face the new breed of evil that populates Sky City today.  Which is why The Standard seems barely able to formulate a sentence when confronted with the horror of the brainwashed children in the sewers: it’s just not in his superhero vocabulary to deal with depravity on this scale.  Even that last line of “Golly Gosh!” feel hopelessly out of context.
